House RS was internally reconfigured with a new kitchen and a reorganisation of the adjoining utility room, cloakroom and guest toilet. The intervention responds to the daily use of a young family and strengthens the relationship between living, cooking and garden.

The existing kitchen was opened up towards the living space. A narrow opening was replaced by a generous passage, allowing the different domestic functions to connect more fluidly and bringing the kitchen back into the centre of the home.

The connection with the garden was reinforced in several ways. A new large window in the kitchen brings the garden and swimming pond visually closer, creating a direct relationship with the landscape. From the seating area, a new visual axis opens the house further towards the outdoors.

At the heart of the kitchen, a large island defines a shared workspace and gathering point. A full-height cabinetry wall organises the transition towards storage, rear entrance and cloakroom, while introducing a material contrast with the more open kitchen space.

The interventions reorganise the existing layout in a way that strengthens everyday use and redefines the relationship between house, family and garden.
