In the Canal District of Sint-Jans-Molenbeek the first social grocery shop was opened. The shop is organised around a central shopping area.
The existing patio was stripped from its extensions and covered. This area becomes the heart of the shop. Daylight is allowed through five translucent cupolas. The shop assistants have a perfect view of the entire shop from this central area. The shop itself is decorated in a refined way and has a low maintenance cast polyurethane floor. Simple shelves display the goods. A semi transparent curtain provides for the necessary privacy in the reception area.
