Ter Scoete is located in Gerhagen, the wooded recreational landscape of Tessenderlo and one of the entry points to the wider Merode region — a network of forests, trails and heritage sites spanning several municipalities. Within this natural setting, the building becomes a welcoming hub for walkers, cyclists and families.

The compact, sustainable volume faces the central square and connects naturally with the access route, the forest and the nearby playground with viewing tower. The terrace merges seamlessly with the public realm, creating an open and lively place to meet.

Its architecture is clear and restrained: a square footprint, a unified sloping roof and timber façades that anchor the building in its surroundings. All public functions sit on the ground floor, while the caretaker’s dwelling and support spaces are discreetly integrated above. Flexible rooms allow for diverse uses.

Ter Scoete offers a warm and future-proof meeting place embedded in the landscape.
